Career Profile
Dr. Ayodeji Oluwafemi Idowu is a lecturer and researcher at the Department of Environmental Health Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, NOUN Abuja. He once served as a postdoctoral/visiting research fellow at the Centre of Excellence in Functional Foods and Gastronomy, Prince of Songkhla University, Hat Yai, Thailand, in 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in Biochemistry with a specialization in phytomedicine and toxicology from the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria. He is a member of the Nigerian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Nigerian Society of Experimental Biology, Environmental Health Council of Nigeria and a member of the Asian Council of Science Editors. He is also a chartered member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. Dr. Idowu’s areas of expertise include phytomedicine, biochemical and environmental toxicology, and public health. He is also very passionate about cutting-edge scientific research in the areas of epidemiology, communicable and non-communicable diseases, as it concerns global health. Dr. Idowu is not only well equipped to develop basic research to add knowledge in the scientific space but also to apply studies to answer questions related to the interaction between the environment and health. He has supervised students at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the fields of biochemistry, environmental health science and public health. Dr. Idowu has published a number of articles, books, and book chapters in the fields of functional foods, phytomedicine, biochemical and environmental toxicology, and public health in both local and international reputable journals indexed in Scopus, Web of Science, google scholar etc.
