Career Profile
Professor Shehu Usman Adamu was born on Monday the 4th of November 1968 at Tudun Saibu in Soba Local Government.
He started his Educational pursuit at an early stage at LEA Primary School Tudun Saibu in 1974 to 1980. Government Secondary School Saminaka, from 1980 to 1985. Enrolled at Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto and Studied Zoology where he graduated in 1993/94 Academic Session as the Best Male Graduating Student of the Department.
Prof S. U. Adamu graduated with a Masters degree in Applied Parasitology parasitology in 1998 and a PhD in Applied Parasitology 2004 from ATBU Bauchi, he further studied Masters in Public Health from University of Liverpool in 2013 and Postgraduate Diploma in education from National Open University of Nigeria in 2022.
He Joined the services of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi in 1995 as a Graduate Assistant and rose from the rank of Graduate Assistant in 1995 through Assistant Lecture (1997), Lecturer II (2000), Lecturer I (2003) and Senior Lecturer in 2006.
Professor Adamu joined the services of Kaduna State University as Associate Professor in 2015 and Taraba State University in January 2018 as a Professor and later National Open University of Nigeria in 2020 where he served as Dean Faculty of Health Sciences from 2021 to 2024.
Professor Adamu pursued a research in use of Natural Products such as Plants extracts for the control of parasitic diseases of particular interest Schistosomiasis and epidemiology and Control of Neglected Tropical Diseases.
He successfully graduated over 47 Postgraduate Students.
