Department of  Environmental Health Science.

B.Sc Environmental Health Science

Environmental health is a branch of public health, that is concerned with the theory and practice of assessing and controlling factors in the environment that can potentially affect health.
Environmental health includes both the direct pathological effects of chemicals, radiation and some biological agents and the effects (often indirect) on health and wellbeing.

The program is designed to provide the training needed for an understanding of the environment, health and safety, to build upon the foundation by exploring in-depth, specific aspects like epidemiology, workplace safety, hazardous and municipal waste management, impact of science and technology on the environment.

The philosophy of the programme is in the training of personnel to the highest academic and professional standards in the identification and resolution of environmental health and safety issues. The programme will provide higher capacity skilled manpower, trained specifically for promoting health and preventing illness through applying scientific skills to solving real-life problems and better management of environmental hazards through the open and distance learning mode.

Potential Career Paths include: Environmental Toxicologist or Pollution Analyst, Health and Safety Engineer, Environmental Health and Safety Specialist, Corporate Health and Safety Specialist.
