 Dear students, I welcome you all to the Department of Public Health Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, National Open University of Nigeria.

Given the interesting times, we will work together to maintain health and safety standards, while sustaining the academic excellence and specialized attention that is synonymous with the Department. The Philosophy of Public Health Science is to provide broad-based academic, professional training and competence that reflects the emphasis on the current national preventive health care systems and services.

The Department in line with the University policy runs online courses and you have chosen to be part of it, hence, I urge you to be wise and diligent in your choice so that you will make it at the end of your stay in the University.

Your success is central to the mission of the Department and the University. Anytime you have questions or feel unsure how to proceed in your academic journey, please reach out to us through your various Study Centres. The Department is here to support you in every step in your journey to the graduation stage.

We are looking forward to everyone having a great and healthy academic stay in the Department.

The Philosophy of the Public Health Science programme is to provide a broad based academic , professional training and competence that reflect the emphasis on the current national preventive health care systems and services through the use of Open and Distance Learning Approaches.

To preserve , promote and improve the health and well-being of populations, communities and individuals.
