Career Profile

I am an environmental health lecturer at the National Open University of Nigeria. I have both an M.Sc. and a Ph.D. in veterinary public health and preventive medicine from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, with research interests in environmental pollutants. I have been working on heavy metal exposures and pollution for 10 years. My career has focused on exploring and addressing the impacts of heavy metal pollution on water and soil. I have worked on heavy metal exposures in the tissues and organs of animals slaughtered at abattoirs. I have also worked on the assessment and risk analysis of some heavy metals in soils, vegetables, fish, and water around industrial areas. I am currently working on heavy metal exposures in cosmetics. I am contributing to the study of environmental health through data collection and analysis, laboratory, and field research. I have led and conducted public awareness efforts on heavy metal exposures and environmental pollution.

In addition, I am passionate about education and leveraging technology to make learning both simple and intriguing as an instructional designer. I simplify complex scientific concepts to enhance understanding and increase student engagement, making learning straightforward and interactive. By integrating technology into education, I ensure that learning experiences are effective and inspiring. I mentor both undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Beyond academia, my dedication lies in bridging the digital divide in the tech industry and promoting female involvement in STEM, technology, and peacebuilding. These efforts help build connections and foster a community that drives transformative change through engagement.

B.Sc Biochemistry, M.Sc. and P.hD. Veterinary Public Health and Preventive Medicine

I have dedicated my career as an environmental health researcher and lecturer to advancing the field of environmental science through research and effective teaching. I have conducted extensive research on the impacts of heavy metal pollution on water and soil, cosmetics, and animal tissues using data analysis, laboratory techniques, and fieldwork to uncover critical insights. I have authored peer-reviewed articles and presented my findings at conferences, contributing to the environmental health knowledge. I have worked on interdisciplinary projects with other researchers to address environmental health challenges and develop sustainable solutions. I have created educational materials and courses that bridge theoretical knowledge with practical applications, enhancing a deeper understanding of environmental health issues among students. I have provided guidance and mentorship to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, helping them develop their research skills and pursue their academic goals. I am working to bridge the digital divide and encourage female participation in tech.
